Danny Wilkin dreamed about raising bison ever since he saw his first bison during an event for his high school vocational education class nearly 30 years ago.
Danny also raised pigs for 25 years and grows hay on his 100-acre ranch.
Jeanie Wilkin sells the bison meat during the summer at the Cortez Farmers Market and in the winter at the Winter Farmers Market at the Four Seasons Nursery in Dolores.
As with all other types of meat, the cost of bison per pound varies depending on the cut.
A few examples:
To purchase our bison meat, visit us Saturdays from 7:30 am – 11 am (June through October) at the Cortez Farmers Market or Saturdays from 11 am to 1 pm (November through the middle of March) at the Winter Farmers Market at Four Seasons Greenhouse in Dolores.
You can also either call us at (970) 565-8140 or use the form on the contact page for more information about pricing and availability of our bison meat.
Danny & Jeanie also own and operate Log Homes of the Southwest and also Wilkin Home Constructors, LLC in Cortez, Colorado. In 1997 after working in Alaska, Danny started building custom homes in Colorado where he realized home building was as rewarding to the home builder as it is to the homeowner.
While he is still building homes, he plans to raise bison for at least the next 30 years.
